Summer 2020, I was having a conversation with a dear friend of mine to give me a little nudge to get going in some areas to bring in streams of income. We discussed my natural characteristics and talents and she told me something I’d never thought existed. And I have no idea why I didn’t think it existed—let’s be real. What doesn’t exist nowadays? Continuing forward...
She said to me, “Ebony, there is something that you’ve never been taught and that’s because it’s a gift. That’s your unquestionable and bold confidence. You should think about becoming a confidence coach.” And I really thought it was a joke. But I looked it up and it indeed exists.
She was right. No one has ever taught me how to aspire and to accomplish what I set my mind to achieve. It is very common that people ask me how to be bold or how did I live out a dream. Now, my faith has a lot to do with that but it is accompanied by my focus, my determination, my integrity and my go-getter mentality.
A very close friend, who is more like a little sister to me, always compliments my resilience because she has seen my in various seasons of life. If I want it, I will have it. Or it will be better than I could have asked for, thought of or imagined.
At the age of 5, I used to go to work with my mom if she couldn’t find someone to watch me or my brother for her shifts. I’d venture over to the magazine section to pick up Ebony, Jet and Essence magazines to look at the Historically Black College University homecoming editions.
With each flip of a page, there were these rich-complexioned women who emulated royalty. Their attire helped achieved that image but I saw something way deeper. I envisioned myself in my early 20s as one of them. Simply, based on that alone, I declared that I would attend a HBCU, I would become the campus queen—the face of the university—to appear in Ebony magazine along with acquiring other dreams. On March 26, 2016 I became the 88th Miss Virginia State University and a few months later, I would see myself in the magazine along with my other sister queens at the time.
In Beyond Shallow Confidence Coaching, I will assist you to adopt a mentality of courageousness, steadfastness and firmness to not only succeed in an area where you need improvement but to conquer a mere road block you perceived as mountainous.
Now, I won’t misguide or mislead you. I am not everyone’s cup of tea. In fact, I’m very much like coffee as a college friend once described me. Everyone doesn’t like coffee. Some coffee drinkers prefer their coffee to be sweet to minimize the strong and pure taste of coffee. (It wasn’t until the first weekend of September 2020 that I started to like my coffee without milk, creamer or sugar.) However, I am extremely wise and very discerning with how I communicate with an individual and the tools that I’ll give you will help me.
Earlier, I mentioned my faith has been a major indicator of my confidence. That is something I could explain in a session but that is solely dependable upon the individual. Our sessions will never be an opportunity for apologetics. With sincerity, certain concepts I have within my life’s journey (or Love Walk—as I prefer to call it) are to assist my coaching but that doesn’t mean I will convince or press anyone to adopt my faith. Solely, I am advocating people to be aware of their extremities, to own their weaknesses and to effectively strategize their strengths and move with assertiveness in whichever area they are looking to conquer.
All potential clients will have a FREE 30 minute consultation to determine whether or not you’d like to progress forward with Beyond Shallow Confidence Coaching. Prices are available for review.
